I also had to add /var/lock/* /var/run/* to the list as they wouldn't be 
mounted when booting the imaged host.  

/lib/modules/`uname -r`/volatile is also not mounted.  I found that 
un-installing and reinstalling linux-restricted corrects this problem.  
There might be a more elegant way to do it though.

Maybe these excludes should be added to systemimager so that it works 
out of the box for ubuntu users?
