I don't THINK I had issues any issues crop up from either of these on my 300 desktop installs, or any subsequent update. It would also be nice to not to have to compile it from source ;-) I looked into packaging a deb from the source, but never figured out how to do it for lack of time (I was offered my new job, so I devoted more than 100% of my time tying up loose ends and documenting everything before I left).
