Hey Richard,

There's a lot of discussion going on in the #python2.8 IRC channel at

feasible for political reasons to extend 3.x to have something like a
"from __past__import stuff", rather than make a 2.8 that accrues
backported features and makes a transition to 3.x easier.
It's a pity we're not at the point where we can state what stackless 2.8 is.
We can, almost. The merges are there, not yet tested, and many places need
renaming to stackless 2.8.
This includes scripts like Stackless/tools/pybuild.bat :
Can I use the name python there, and just change the executable from
python27 to stackless28?
What is it, btw? My understanding of it, and the directions it will
head are comprised of a series of points from a variety of different
emails.
Do you think to step out of stackless 2.8 now?
I think we decided that and we do that.
What is the political crap about? We are making a new stackless version,
that is not their deal.
Stackless 2.8 is a convenience version with a few minor additions to
python 2.7
and stackless support. :-)
