Might i ask to retry with vesafb and the options listed on http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram from text mode? I'd guess that either "s2ram -f -a3", "s2ram -f -p -m" or "s2ram -f -p -s" will work, so you'll probably not need to go through all iterations :-) (And afterwards, please check if the same option that you found working with vesafb still works with radeonfb).
