If we go the HTTP + XML way, anyone who is able to put a file onto their
own domain's webserver is able to run their own maven repository.
If we go the DNS SRV way, only those who can persuade the administrator
of theri domain's DNS server to create funny entries is able to run
a maven repository. I bet you that the second set is much much smaller.
Think about all these SourceForge projects...
