Actually, this is [email protected], which according to
http://despots.codehaus.org/Project+Mailing+Lists has the following
purpose:

The user@ list is intended for user-based discussions of the project.

There are two other lists, Xdoclet-Plugins Interest, and Xdoclet-Plugins
SCM which I assume would be appropriate for discussion of Xdoclet
plugins.

What do you mean by "and EJB plugins are not yet released". They are
included in the official XDoclet2 1.0.2 release. Is it really true that
EJB stuff doesn't work? Why was there even a release of XDoclet2 if
these original reason for it's existence isn't working yet?

I have read quite a bit of bad press about XDoclet2 that made me wary
about upgrading, but I didn't want to mess with the old template
language anymore if there was something better. But this is extremely
dissappointing and discouraging.

You are asking on the wrong list... There is a list dedicated to plugins
( and there are plugin developers, especially those who are in charge of
EJB stuff )

XDoclet is apparently running, so the problem is inside plugin (
template )

And EJB plugins are not yet released - they are under development. So
templates could be just empty.

It is indeed easier due to better templating engines, and better tag
architecture ( self validating , etc.
)
