I agree with Rewarp, this is where I had the most problems, finding an input method that worked in Ubuntu. There are reports that Ibus is buggy, and recommendations to use alternatives (can't remember the name now). I tried these and found them equally buggy. Then suddenly I started Ubuntu one day and Ibus worked just like the system on my Mac. I believe the change was after I had done the latest upgrade, and I am now using kernel 2.6.32.30, on Ubuntu 10.4. Unfortunately (for testing) I'm not often in Ubuntu now, since everything works so well on the various Macs. (Just fired up Ubuntu and tested - still works fine.
