maybe I insist, but I'm getting curious as to what I have missed that you don't actually want to get the printer directly into your network via ethernet, without using a computer to share it... I always thought this to be the simplest solution, first of all because so you don't have to power up any computer to be able to print, you just print from whatever computer is running to your printer... and second because all the driver issues disappear this way...

if not, you first of all have to boot ur computer to which the printer is connected, so that you get the printer connected to the network through the computer, and then there are all the nifty things about sharing, like drivers, security etc etc...

what am I missing, because it seems I'm not having the best idea...

tks for answering to my idle curiosity :)

The problem with our world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should
be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the
safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Ken's printer sharing solution sounds good and a lot less

the Apple LocalTalk Bridge software.

Yes and that was my first idea as I would like to get the 6100 on the
DSL and use the 360 printer for most printer ops. I have 2 others but
with everything else running 10.4 I just wondered if they would play
nice, as the 6100 G3 is happy at system 8.6. So with the 6100
connected to the group Ethernet is the 6100 actually commanding the
select 360 to print from the wireless powerbooks when I select print.
Or does the command to print from a wireless PB just "pass through"
the 6100 and the Printer responds as long as the correct drivers are
installed on the wireless Power Books.
Sorry for all the question, it just amazes me that these machines and
printers are still very usable
Thanks for the help and ideas,ma we will see when I get to the machine.

Hmmm. I guess I missed the part where you were needing to "share" a
printer between OS 9 and OS X machines. In my experience, this does
not work well at all. Search Apple's support site for "OS X printer
sharing" for more info, but essentially, it says that trying to share
a printer between OS X and OS 9 machines may result in the printer
being available to neither.

Sorry.
