especially for those labels that are either no longer in existence, don't
have websites, or don't list their discogs.
I use it for this reason and the below mentioned

I do have a music library catalogue on my computer but my computer isn't
working at the moment and I thought - what if something was to happen to my
computer and I couldn't retrieve a list of what I had or in case of some
sort of damage to my collection (fire, robbery, etc. - touch wood)?

it also helps me to figure out "do I have such and such record already?"
since I have an ever expanding collection. I have at times bought a second
copy of something I already own because I couldn't remember or because the
label was slightly different (one was a promo copy, a white label, etc.)
