These two pronouncements annoyed me, they seem really ignorant:
anyway, the music sucks but the press and hipsters are behind it, we should be hearing lots more about it in the future.
Have you actually heard Plasticman? - his tracks rock like the proverbial MF, really heavy and dark, a cut above much of the current crop of UK electro, he doesn't sound anything like the current Rephlex roster (not that that's a cuss anyway). One of the best dancing experiences I had recently was to a mate play a set of heavy electro mixed with loads of darkstepping garage, it blew my head off! And supposed Detroit/LOST stalwart John Kennedy is the one releasing/selling the tunes to boot.
Doesn't this guy have any mates who would say- "Errr, ah - ya know what I think that name's been taken, and anyway, you look like Vanilla Ice with those lines shaved in the side of your head and eyebrows"
What on earth has that got to do with anything, it's not like Richie Hawtin hasn't had silly hair moments, but who cares?
Anyway, Rephlex is Richard D. James's label, therefore the baseline assumption should be that there is some kind of wind up/p*ss take going on.
None of these people are my mates, I just get annoyed when people stick the boot in to what is actually quite a vibrant exciting scene with some great music (and more than a nod in the 313 direction as it happens) without actually knowing what they're talking about
