I'd probably qualify that to say that there's a certain context under
which any particular artistic action would be seen as appropriate.
Abstract art works for abstract audiences.
Teeny-pop works for teeny-pop audiences.

Although I hate to think where the conversation might go now, I'd
venture to say that once you're able to make art that works across
multiple contexts, includings ones that you never expected, then you're
on the way to greatness.
Or maybe not.
