I don't feel like working this second so I'll just add an opinion here. I like 303 stuff, but I think they sound best when they are NOT screaming... The screaming stuff is annoying, but I still love them when used in a more funky way. The 303 and similar boxes will always have a use just because they are basically generating fairly simple analog synth tones, there is always a place for those simple sounds in one way or another.
On the retro tip, I think there are a lot of tracks coming out now that have a bit of a retro vibe but aren't REALLY retro, it's more like they reference specific styles that maybe peaked in the past. For example, I've seen the new Smash TV album classified as retro, but in a way this album sounds very now, nobody could have or would have made an album like this in the past. ~David ---------- Original Message ------------- Subject: Re: (313) 303 and an opinion Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 14:51:22 +0100 From: robin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Neil Wiernik <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> there's no problem here neil. i just expressed an opinion like you did i could pick away at the use of the word retro but i'll save the bandwidth :) robin...
