Hi Rommel, Daniel and belated happy bday to the Lacanilao couple,
Joon and Laarni! :)

Rommel, donya? Baka donya buding :) Mabuti naman ako, eto matabang
nanay.

Wala akong alam tungkol sa Kbhomes. We bought our first house from
Ashtonwoods (www.ashtonwoods.com) and our current house from Grand
Homes (www.grandhomes.com). Yung mga kakilala namin, they bought
their houses from one of the ff:
1. Legacy Homes (www.legacy-homes.com)
2. Hammonds Homes (www.hammondshomes.com)
3. Standard Pacific (www.standardpacifichomes.com)
4. First Texas (www.firsttexashomes.com)
5. Ashtonwoods
5. Grand Homes

Nilagay ko na yung mga websites in case nagbi-build din ang isa sa
mga yan sa San Antonio, makikita mo na yung mga floorplans, community
locations, etc. nila.

Kung ayaw mo ng masyadong malayo, how about pre-owned homes? Usually
kasi yung mga newly-built houses talagang nasa malayo na. Tulad ng
bahay namin. We drive 24 miles (one way) to go to work.

Regarding buying a house w/o a green card yet, why not? We bought a
house in Sept 2000, dumating green card namin, Nov 2004 na. Sayang
kasi yung perang napupunta sa rent. At least kung may bahay ka, tax
deductible na ang mortgage interest and property tax, nage-earn ka pa
ng equity. Worst case scenario - if for some reason you're not
eligible to work in the US anymore tapos meron kang bahay, you can
sell it at anytime. Just try to pick a house na sa tingin mo hindi
naman problema ibenta in the future. Saka school district is a
factor too. I got the following info from this
(http://houseandhome.msn.com/move/choosinganewschool0.aspx):
"A recent national study by USA Today found that a house in a highly
rated school district can be worth at least 10 percent more than a
comparable home in a lesser district, even if they are only a block
away from each other. Also, homes in better school districts on
average sell faster than homes with lesser-regarded schools. For
these reasons, it is wise to add the quality of local schools into
any home purchase you make, even if you don't have children going to
school."

Regarding mortgage, try to avoid the Private Mortgage Insurance
(PMI). Check out this link --->
http://loan.yahoo.com/m/basics9.html. One of our friends did an "80-
10-10" loan.

You may want to read this ---> "Four questions to ask yourself before
you jump on the homebuying bandwagon"
x.htm) My take on this is if I'm single, I'll probably just rent but
if I'm married with kid(s), I prefer to live in a house.

Good luck on your house hunting!

Arlene
