< It appears that you don't have the nVidia binary installed. I'm not sure
< how 64 Studio handles that stuff these days, but you'll need the
< proprietary driver if you want accelerated 3D from that card.
<
< IIRC the nVidia installer will back-up and re-write your xorg.conf. It's
< been a while since I did all that, you should wait for the word from
< Daniel and Free regarding the official way to upgrade the nVidia binary
< driver.

< Hi Dave :)
<
< I hope my latest mails can be handled by the mail archives, because I
< copied them from my Alice Web Access and replied by the Thunderbird of
< my Suse 11.1 install. I only receive Mails with my Icedove from the 64
< Studio 2.1 Lenny install and only than I can reply in a correct way. But
< this isn't the topic ;), anyway, Lenny seems to be the topic. I guess
< Mira is using an upgraded 64 Studio 2.1 too. It has nothing to do with
< the driver he will use, dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg won't work for 64
< Studio 2.1 upgraded to Lenny. If you will test it yourself, or anybody
< else, than first make a backup of the xorg.conf by yourself, I remember
< that I lost my xorg.conf.
<
< Cheers,

Thanks Dave, Ralf

I already saved my xorg.conf from one of my old backup.
Ralf is right I am running 64Studio upgraded to Lenny ... actually dual boot
with XP.
It is really issue? dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg not working on Lenny upgrade?

I can't get better resolution then 1280x768 on 64Studio with nVidia driver
which coming with this distro.
On XP I can have even 1920x1200 ... maybe proprietary driver helps.

Anyway which driver is recommended for DAW? Proprietary or common one?
I probably don't need 3D so necessarily ... but better resolution could be nice.
Which driver take more system resources?

Cheers Mira
