I think there is a slight blurring of lines here...

64 Studio will stay 64 Studio. We are working towards making the 64
Studio experience you are accustomed to part and parcel of the 64 studio
3.0 look and feel. We will only be using the package repository of the
long time support Ubuntu Hardy release, which will mean quicker security
fixes etc. and ultimately a quicker upgrade turnaround time. By the
time Ubuntu releases the next stable LTS release, Lenny would only be a
third into its life ;-)

Don't get me wrong - I love the idea of building 64 Studio on the
"Father of Ubuntu", but if you weigh up the frustration of the "cutting
edge" multimedia world at the end of etch, you'll know what I mean.

Thus: we will have a Debianish 64 Studio, built (mostly) on Ubuntu Hardy
packages.

If you have not tried the 3.0 alpha yet, do give it a whirl. It is not
complete yet, and any feedback is appreciated. (be sure to update to the
latest version after installation of the current ISO)

PS: Free, do we have a nightly build of the alpha ISO available? or if
not, at least an up to date version?
