64 Studio has a reputation of being "The Stable one" with good reason. We are only now going to start using the Hardy LTS packages, which has been honed and repaired for almost a year now by the ubuntu team and will be for the next two. See where I am going? Of course Free builds cutting edge packages of the most important multimedia packages, so we always have the best of both worlds. Underlying stability, with cutting edge performance. Debian testing is not at all stable, and will change A LOT over the next 2 or three years until it is released. This causes a lot of broken dependencies and other little problems you do not want to crop up just before your big gig with an important client... Debian Stable would be an option, but as Free has recently stated, we cannot properly maintain 2 branches, and the Hardy branch gets funded by the 64 Studio company's commercial clients. the 3.0 alpha is currently in a very good place, and Skulnotions Dave has done a very promising test on the new 2.6.18 RT kernel. Cheers, Quentin _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
