I'm asking because SATA is "new" for me and because LG drives are low-cost drives. Searching the web I can't find any negative notes about LG drives for Linux, but I also couldn't find any positive notes. Most times my old ATAPI LG was fine. I'll order a SATA LG, even if my ATAPI LG should be fine and the mobos IDE controler should be defect. As you've written, "standard drives" seems to be fine with Linux. I guess it's independent from USB, ATAPI, SATA. > It is never a bad idea to ask questions, unless of course the question > is in the FAQ. I can't see any hints how to solve this problem for my hardware. At the moment I'm fine with Windows for music, there seems to be more activity for audio freeware, than there is for Linux. For Video Linux seems to be the better choice for me. I didn't find any freeware for Windows that seems to be as good as Cinelerra. Btw is Cinelera fine with 64 Studio 3.0? I'm still using 64 Studio 2.1 and Suse 11.0/11.1. Thanx! Cheers, Ralf
