Hi Daniel :)

there are still 800MB CDs ;), but because we are using the internet, I
guess we don't need more than a 700MB install CD, with the most wanted
applications. For countries were access to the internet is a problem, a
DVD might be the better choice.

For me it's hard to imagine what might be the "perfect" media.

I prefer 700MB media, but this is a selfish view ;).

I don't know the situation in some countries. I bought a new DVD drive
for around 20,-€ and this is a burner, DVDRAM and LightScribe drive, but
only a reader for around 10,-€ is needed to install something. I don't
know, but I guess getting access to the internet might be harder in some
countries, than to get a DVD reader.

Is an old CD reader able to read 800MB CDs or overburned 700MB CDs?

Cheers,
Ralf

PS: This social aspect of Linux keeps me stay at Linux, even if for my
usage of the computer Windows has a lot of advantages. But also for
Linux, thinking about such issues is something that made me change from
Suse to 64 Studio.
