I don't know the answer for 64 Studio 3.0 beta, but most times it's better to have a connection to the internet when using Linux. If you e.g. wish to have KDE (to have newer start menus), I bet you can get it by a repository, I guess you should use the hardy repository for stuff like that ... but I don't know, because my beta3 USB stick install failed.
