The meters to use in linux, as I will demonstrate in the how-to are the 
meterbridge audio level meters, and the jkmeter.  Most meters are 
precise in the digital domain, but needs some level of translation or 
calibration to fir your hardware.  This is what the how-to will be 
mostly about.

Look in the how-to section of the web site in a week's time.  I will 
announce it here as well.
