I have a Yamaha cinema amp with a volume control which shows 0dB for loudest down to -70dB for silent, with independent controls for each channel. I guess this is designed for people to calibrate THX systems, not that the sales guys in the stores know what dbFS is :-) I'm not surprised that Circuit City went bust; the Santa Monica store always had its demo systems set up wrong, making expensive hi-fi gear sound awful :-) Cheers!
