VST isn't native FLOSS stuff. VST headers are for free and they are open 
source, but they are proprietary, even for native Linux VST. The 
Steinberg headers might have FLOSS replacements, e.g. vestige, but it's 
native proprietary stuff.

Instruments are called DSSI and not LADSPA. Btw. there also is LV2, a 
newer Linux standard.
