There are a lot of amps on the market, that do a compression of the signal. One compression with the power supply and sometimes even another one with a DSP inside. Than, if you listen to that amp, it makes you feel that this amp is better than another one, even if the signal is really bad with its dynamic (non-linear over freq and time).
