The ad-hoc LoWPAN would have to renumber to directly connect to the Internet, right?

Do you want the old ad-hoc nodes to be part of the new LoWPAN? If not, there will be some relaying somewhere, because the LoWPAN is a stub network with a single prefix.
(The existing ad-hoc whiteboard could do NEMO, for instance.)
