If your CPU is slower than 366 MHz you shound turn off "Show Windows contents when dragging" option in Display Properties. If your CPU is slower than 600 MHz or your are using a video card older than 4 years, you should set your display colour depth to 16-bit colour or lower in Display Properties. Setting your colours to 24 or 32 bit on a slow or old graphics card can cause lagging when scrolling or moving windows around. Another Note: If you are using an older PCI based video card with less than 2 MB of memory you should disable window contents when dragging, smooth scrolling and animations of windows, and keep the colour depth at 16-bit or below. Your video adapter is too slow to do these animations.
