Well Charles,
If you'd just look at the stats, you'd see that there are far more Win95/98
systems in current use than XP's. This past summer the 95/98 usage was
still just short of 50% of the total, with XP a very distant second.
MS tried to stop support for 98 but, the outcry by business and private
users (plus some legal considerations) were such that they were forced to
extend active support at least until end 2006 and it may well be extended
again.
I am still running 16 machines on 98SE and have no plans whatsoever to go
with XP. I can't risk product activation problems and my machines are very
stable. We are beginning to migrate but, it isn't towards MS product but to
Linux.
