"Without windows no one would do graphics on a PC, it would all be MAC. Lots of old grapnics artists were MAC only fans. But some PCs are at least as good ad MAC. I can't say that for certain but I have heard graphics artists say so."
Well, my husband did engineering drawings on his DOS computer. In fact, he was very relultant to use Windows. He never did have windows 3 series, nor did he ever get Windows 95. He continued to use DOS for all of his drawings and printed them out on his DOS-run plotter until he relented and got Windows 98 which he still uses, and a Ink-Jet plotter with a Windows-based CAD program. He probably would have switched sooner, but no matter how many expensive CAD based programs he purchased, he could never find one with the speed of his DOS based CAD program.
