I try to say thank you to each respondent, but sometimes I'm either
very late, or I haven't gotten back to that particular project. I
have your request for information on how the scanning slides went
marked with high priority, but that has again rotated to a back
burner project. I haven't done anything with it. ( I don't think
I've thanked everyone who tried to help me on my OE question - that's
still a small difficulty.)

It does need to be kicked into high gear, for that I appreciate
your post - especially since today is Grandpa's 95th birthday, and
the slides are a lifetime of family and travel. If he could still
see them, it would be a bit more of a rush, but he's been legally
blind for a few years now. I know a big part of my reluctance is due
to the size of the project - there is an entire long shelf crammed
with boxes of circular slide trays, plus several photo albums.

It's only been in the past few years that he's really opened up and
told stories about his family to the rest of us. Mom, of course,
knew most of them as a child, but he's always been a bit secretive
with the rest of us, especially the "younger ones" (like me) - sorry,
no "my grandfather was a secret spy for the CIA" stories! :).

And don't we all like to pretend our family members will live forever?

Anyhow, to get this back on track, I understand Rick's position. Our
computer guru at work, Gary, is constantly and consistently
overworked (and underpaid). Through it all, he's a sweetheart
(though I wish he'd give up smoking.) Everyone out there is ow/up
really (work 7 days a week, 8 hour days, for months on end - I'm a
lucky temp, so I don't have to). The reactions I get from people,
especially Gary, when I say thank you are astounding. A couple of
times I've seriously been concerned they were going into shock!

And where I work isn't the only place where I've seen that reaction.

So, a general "thank you," goes out at this moment to everyone on the
list - answerer and asker alike - because it wouldn't be here were
you not involved.

Theresa

Gentlemen, I believe we have much to discuss.
