PC slowdown cand be caused be a number of things. defective memory is not
one of them. Meimory problems will either be not noticed by the computer or
will cause severe lockups. Slowdows that occur with time are often caused by
junk starting when the computer starts up. Here's a site that has informaton
on which startup programs are necessary vs. those which are not.
http://startup.networktechs.com/

There is also a pair of files in this group site files section. It's called
startup.zip. It has two .html files which also list most startup programs.
To view which programs are running when you start up go to:

Start, run, then type 'msconfig' and hit enter. On the far right will be a
tab marked startup. Uncheck any file that you don't want to run on startup.
You can experiment with them or use the above tools to determine which ones
to uncheck.
