I would have thought the answer to be yes but checking the size of the email 
should verify whether 
the images are in the mail and not just linked to the email for sending.

What are you worried about anyway ... you have got a big one now haven't you, 
ok I'll bite ... how 
big did you say it was *again*?  :-))

One thing I have always wondered is, if you send an email with say
photos attached, that email goes to your Sent folder with the photos.
Is that now effectively another block of data on your hard disk equal
in size to the text content plus the photo file sizes? In other words
am I storing those same photos in two seperate places on my drive??
