Does anyone know if activation of XP has been discontinued? I purchased a new Toshiba laptop that came loaded with XP home and for kicks decided to try an old XP Pro disc that I had used with a now defunct PC I dual booted and when asked if I wanted to activate I said "yes", then in the next page it asked if I wanted to register with MS and I said "no", then in the next page it said "welcome you are activated and ready to go" or some such, and since then I have run service pack 2 and downloaded some Microsoft programs that required verification of my OS. I now have upgraded the Toshiba home version with the old XP version and am now dual booting two OSs XP Pro Upgraded with service pack 2. Anyone heard anything? Emile
