Thanks, Jim. The source medium are CDs and I think my stepdad just put them in the CD Rom drive and followed the normal install procedure. One program (the newer one) is an original CD. The other is a copy of the original CD. I have the original here, and I just tried installing the program on my brand new computer. It installed without a problem.
My stepdad said he was able to install a different program on his computer and did not receive the error message. The two programs he is trying to install are from the same manufacturer. Do you need further details?
