I had him install a different program on his computer, and it worked
fine.  

I also installed that same program on my computer, and it worked fine.
   I had the original disc, he has a copy.

He tried installing a different program by the same manufacturer on
his computer, and it didn't work, either.  It seems like the problem
lies with the two CDs by that one manufacturer.

What a mystery this is.
