That is definitely the dark ages. I remember having a 10GB FH HD eons
ago. I recently pulled a 16.9GB n' 18.2GB from my PC and, replaced it
with a 147GB.

Is the age of the PC, before the first Pentium CPU?

Ok

Presuming that the 40GB WD HD has been made 'bootable', your PC would
still boot from the 10GB HD because, that is 'bootable'. You would just
have to re-format the 40GB WD HD.

You should look on the 10GB HD, to see whether, it is set for Master or,
Single. If it is set for Single, change it to Master and, designate the
40GB WD HD as Slave until all the data is moved to the HD. Then change
that one to Master

This is why I am asking about the age of the PC.

For IDE(I use only SCSI in my PC) systems, you will need to run Fdisk
first, to create a new partition on the drive and, to delete the one the
guy mentioned. After the HD is partitioned than, you can run Format to
format the drive.

Double-check to make sure BIOS sees' it in the Setup.

Only AFTER, you have:
1. Run FDISK
2. Deleted any partitions still on the HD
3. Created a partition on the new HD
4. Set the partition to 'Active'
5. Run FORMAT to format the partition
