On the basis that the computer is using Windows XP and is not a laptop:
My computer has a number of accounts one of which is the admin account.
This is shown on the Users Accounts as "The Master" (Computer Administrator
Password Protected) - no other account has Administrators Powers. The only
problem that may arise is if the person has set their user name as
Administrator
LOL. My computer does not need the correct password nor did the lady that was
the administrator on a 3 week old computer.
You boot in to Safe mode > A users name appears > Delete this and type in
Administrator leave the password space blank and click ok > In the start menu
>click control panel > Users accounts > change passwords etc
I am therefore surprised that it does not work for your friend.
If you care to look at message 32764 where I have discussed others ways of
getting round the very fragile security of Windows XP.
