You need to boot from your windows installation CD and do a "Windows in place reinstallation" otherwise known as a "repair installation.". You must avoid doing a reformat of "C" and the WIN CD will repair or replace all Windows's files without touching anything else. It Is such a common procedure that Microsoft has dedicated a WEB page to it's explanation and provides step by step instructions.
