Phyllis,

> Where do you find "computers emergency rescue disk or
> system"?..thanks,..--Phyllis

That will of course differ with each brand of computer and maybe even each
model. If the company provided the recover disk(s) then they would be packed
with the machine. What I call a recover system is a special partition
containing the image of the drive, perhaps compressed. The first place to
look for that is in the manual. There should be instructions for recovering
after a disaster [although they would not use that term.] On the machine at
least two machines had a startup message reminding me to create backup disks
and where to go to do this.

My latest computer a Gateway, doesn't have a separate partition, instead
they have several folders on the C partition. The reinstall program on that
machine actually turned up missing. So I dug into these programs and
managed to create install programs for each bundled application. And
strangely enough they supplies a reinstall disk but it does not reinstall
much besides the OS. After setting up these install programs I copied them
all to my external drive and burned them to a DVD. I need to contact Gateway
about getting that install program. But you know how much of a problem it is
to get very specific stuff from a computer company.

Did I answer your question? Look for anything with the computer brand name
on it.
