A wireless network, or wireless networking, is defined as technology that allows two or more computers, to communicate, (enabling file sharing, printer sharing, internet connection, etc), using standard protocol ?but without the use of network cabling.
The term, wireless network, or wireless networking, by definition, could be used for any technology that accomplishes the above. The current industry term, wireless network, however, tends to refer to wireless LANs (Local Area Networks). This technology, has heralded the emergence of affordable wireless network solutions that are becoming increasingly popular in business, industry, schools and in the home. In fact, the wireless home network is one of the fastest growing areas in this field, with sharing wireless internet connections between the home PC and either a second PC in the home or with a laptop. ----- Original Message ----- From: Phyllis Christian To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 11:43 PM Subject: Re: [A-1-Computer_Tech] Crossover Cables Well I hate to show my ignorance but, what is a wireless network?..--Phyllis ----- Original Message ----- From: "JIM" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 7:42 PM Subject: Re: [A-1-Computer_Tech] Crossover Cables Phyllis, > What could be blocking a network? I have found networks a really obscure area of computing. More especially wirelss ones. My approach at fixing them is to just srart from scratch and reconfigure them. A lot like many Windows problems. :-) Jim If you have any questions or problems with any aspect of this site, please feel free to contact me directly [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please do not post personal issues directly to the group.
