I also have Symantec Goback, which I find more reliable and more flexible than
System Restore ... I am a belt and bracers man :-))
The strange thing is that the update icon notification is that IE7 update is
ready for d/l from M$ so I click on express d/l and nothing happens apart from
the update notification icon eventually disappears, so I eventually had to go
the M$ Windows Update site to d/l it. I am just going through the same process
now with the laptop. I am wondering if the IE7 update was an update to IE7
(already), because when I installed IE7 on the other PC it also recommended d/l
& install an IE7 update.

Actually I think a resore point is set automatically if you install new
software and probably for upgrades too. That doesn't preclude being safe
rather than sorry of course.
