The Recovery Disk(s) when run returns the computer's hard drive to the same position as when it left the factory, So even if you uninstalled say Microsoft Works because you had Office, Works would reappear. The you therefore don't have an installation CD for say Windows XP, and if your hard drive needs replacing you are in big trouble. It is a bit like doing a mega system restore.
