There is a difference. A clone of the C partition should run when copies 
back to C. An ordinary copy, especially one make while Windows is running 
will probably not run if copies back to C. That's becaue imporant system 
files would be running and therefore not be copied..

You can't clone to your D partition without wiping out the files already 
there. I use Partition Magic a lot, to create multiple partitions, 
esepcially ones the size of my C partition to be the target of my cloning 
program. There are of course programs that will clone C to a file that can 
be burned onto a DVD, or CD if it is small enough. The latter would require 
a smaller C partition.
