Hi:
Pretty hard to guess from here but you say "un-partitioned space".   Sounds 
to me like you are trying to install a new OS on un-partitioned  space.  XP  
will do that but not on 488MB.  You might go into  disk management to see what 
you have set up.  XP will install to any  partition in which you have enough 
space,  or it will use unallocated space  to create a partition on which to 
install.  Make sure you are trying to  install the new XP to a place that has 
enough space for it.  Or give us  more details.
