Hi:
Should be able to do a Windows In-place reinstallation with   Win98.  But I 
can't remember for sure.  That would save his upgrades,  programs and data.  
But if the windows error is with an Upgrade that would  be no help.  He would 
need to try copying his data to an external media and  doing a Clean reinstall, 
reinstall all his programs,  copy back his data  and go online for the 
Upgrades.  A good night's work.  Bye
