Don't know if Walter has fixed his problem page in Word MS but if anyone
else has this one here is the answer.
Cause
You will have accidently saved a page of typing by just clicking the Tool
Bar icon to print instead of using the Save As option in the File menu. This
has replaced the normal.dot plain page that opens when Word starts, so your
text page pops up instead for evermore.
Cure
First do a search for the Normal.dot file
Start/Search but in the search dialog make sure you click the More Advance
options and tick the sub, hidden and system file boxes.
Type normal.dot in the search files names box and hit Go. When you see the
Nornal.dot in the right hand pane double click it to open it in its own
folder. Now point at it and right click and choose Rename. Put a 1 in front
of the normal i.e. Normal1.dot and close the folder.
Now open Word and you have a plain page.
Finally go File/New and in the dialog point at that normal1.dot and right
click and choose delete.
Now you are back to a normal.dot every time.
