Here's my problem: I have created about 40 keyboard
shortcuts that I use all the time (e.g. CTRL-SHIFT C changes
the case of a word). Some are unique to me. Also, I've added
a menu (the Work menu, and if you don't have one you
should), and a couple of icons on the menu bar that I can
click on (e.g. a big arrow that changes from Window #1 to
Window #2
to Window #3, etc.). Some of the additions are minor; others
would require hours of work to restore.

You say that rebuilding Normal.dot will "rebuild it to
defaults." Does that mean Word will now show the factory
settings? If so, I will have to spend hours and hours
redoing all my macros and shortcuts and menu adds -- a
humongous job.

This would be like turning back the clock and reverting to a
state of nature before the industrial revolution. Not worth
the trouble.

Please, what is the answer?
