Walter your macros have no connection with your normal.dot page. The Default of that page just has those attribute set as you would in page set up i.e, the margins. header & footer, indents etc'. Macros are set up under the tools menu and are a totally separate editor.

Some are unique to me. Also, I've added a menu (the Work menu, and if you don't have one you should), and a couple of icons on the menu bar that I can click on (e.g. a big arrow that changes from Window #1 to Window #2 to Window #3, etc.). Some of the additions are minor; others would require hours of work to restore. You say that rebuilding Normal.dot will "rebuild it to defaults." Does that mean Word will now show the factory settings? If so, I will have to spend hours and hours redoing all my macros and shortcuts and menu adds -- a humongous job. This would be like turning back the clock and reverting to a state of nature before the industrial revolution. Not worth the trouble. Please, what is the answer?
