squaw246, I had to do this just last night for a Client with a Acer Aspire 5580 / 5570 / 3680 / 5570Z Series. If you go to the Booklet that came with your system [Page #47 for this Laptop], it explains how to "restore my Computer to it's original settings without recovery CD's"! Meanwhile, I have the Booklet in front of me now, and will be online for most of the evening. If you haven't solved the problem, I can type out all of the instructions to resolve your issue.
