This group and the member of it do not claim to be experts. You do not help
yourself or the group by chastizing people that are trying to help you. If you
recieve a posted tip that you have already tried, then ignore it. There are a
lot of knowledgeable people in this group including myself. I have not posted
on your problem because I haven't followed the postings. If I knew what your
system is I might be able to help.
The basic troubleshooting steps are as follows:
1. try the mic on a known good system, if it works go to the next step.
2. look at computer properties to see if the sound card is recognized, if so
and it plays audio go to step 2.
3. Go to the start menu and look for an audio setting program, if none go to
control panel, look under sound and check the setting.

A very simply solution:
Go to Walmart or Meijers store purchase a CHEAP Mic take it home and
plug it into the back of your computer that says mic or has a pic of
a mic- test it and if it does not work take it back to were you have
purchased it. If it does work keep it and BE HAPPY!
Using COMMON SENSE is the first thing in COMPUTER REPAIR - this is
not something to cause problems with others - and not worth the
headaches - it may be a good thing that we all are over 1000 miles
