As you say Graham he has been told all this over and over but just comes back with with the same old argument.
As a computer teacher I am done with him anyway. We have tried very patiently to offer our very best advice to you based on our extensive knowledge and experience. Now if you do not like what we are saying then you have the right to disagree with us and ignore the advice, as I said before, you are there with the "puter" and can see and hear what we cannot, therefore unless you tell us any differant we can only assume certain things. As I see it, none of the deas put forward has cured the problem, so You are faced with a position that is going to cost you money and the options are A) take it to a repair shop, B) buy a new sound card and install it with the correct drivers, buy a new microphone, check and replace any cables between the sockets where you are plugging everything into (assuming you are plugging into a front mounted accessory) and the actual souncard installed at the rear of the puter. Option B) is more likely to be the least cost option and then you should have your sound back working just the way you want without all of this unnecassary flameing of people who are offering their very best advice to you.
