as sugggested by: [EMAIL PROTECTED] "SDFix download" took considerable creative thinking to get it in and installed, but it fixed mine and i am eternally grateful. your symptoms are slightly different from mine, but it sounds like it works the same way. The thing that was so disheartening was that it had deleted so many of the shortcuts to vital programs. It is a lot harder to find problems with the search agent deleted, and patently hard to run things with the run box gone. in safe mode i found myself opening things i didn't need to get iexplore and explorer.exe windows open when i needed them.
